NEWS 2012
Very happy to report that Cannedphoto, Beverley Photographer, Derek Schultz (me!) survived another year of tha appalling economic situation! Long may it last.
The Beverley Minster project is progressing. This is big and long term. The launch exhibition will be in the summer of 2014 , which seems a long time off, until you start working on the logistics!
Bought a new camera last year. A SINAR Norma film camera with a couple of lenses. This is primarily for the Minster project, but I am looking forward to experimenting with other stuff.
Launched a new site in 2011 and venture with some photographer friends. Extreme Action Photography. We did this because sometimes you get projects where it is near impossible for just one photographer to complete or cover properly, or you need others with special skills. Whatever the reason, EAP is a group of photographers who can cover your event, or commission safely and effectively, whatever and wherever it is. |
JANUARY 2012
Hostile Environment Training for photographers and journalists in particular, with our new company PRIORITY ONE TRAINING - This is a company limited by guarantee so that all profits will be fed back into the organisation for the benefit of the students. Still in its early stages, but developing nicely and looks like we could have our first official event in March 2012. So watch this space.

I worked hard on the social networking stuff in 2011, which is well worth it. So join up with us on Facebook and follow my blog if you are interested in reading a rant about photographic stuff!
I also decided to repurpose skills that I already have, so I started a service for people who want to get into self publishing. I figured that there are a lot of people interested in writing their own books, but have no idea of how to go about laying a book in artwork format for print or for one of the new digital formats. So mix up my graphic design and photography skills into Self Publishing Books and I think you have a winner! Check out the website for more details. PS Excuse the video if you bother to watch it! It is a work in progress! ;-)
Finally for now, I was very pleased in 2011 to be asked to act as one of the official photographers at the Beverley Folk Festival. Happy to report that they liked the results and have asked me back for 2012. It's a great opportunity to get to know a whole host of new friends and work on something that is incredibly satisfying. |
